Eddie Castleberry of Sheridan, Arkansas was born June 5, 1940 near England, Arkansas, the son of the late Robert Bailey Castleberry and Mary Glenn Woods Castleberry. After his father's death when he was a child, his mother married J.T. Sloan, and they considered each other father and son.
Eddie proudly served his country in the Army National Guard from 1963 to 1969, embodying a deep sense of duty and commitment. Following his military service, he worked at the Pine Bluff Arsenal, contributing to national defense efforts with dedication. He later built a respected career as a parts salesman in the timber industry, first with Hobbs and Suttle in Sheridan and later with J.A. Riggs in Fordyce, Arkansas. Known for his strong work ethic and friendly demeanor, he formed lasting relationships with colleagues and customers alike throughout his years of service in the industry.
He loved the outdoors, spending his time hunting, fishing, and in his younger years, scuba diving. He was a dedicated Arkansas Razorbacks fan, never missing the opportunity to listen to a game on his radio. Whether on the water, in the woods, or listening to his favorite sports, these activities brought him great joy throughout his life.
Eddie was a devoted member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years. He was deeply loved and respected by many friends in the Sheridan community, known for his kindness, integrity, and his humor. Above all, he cherished his family, finding great joy in the company of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose lives he touched with love and care. His legacy of faith, friendship, and family will forever be remembered.
Mr. Castleberry died Monday, August 11, 2025 at his home near Sheridan, at the age of 85. In addition to his mother, father and step-father, he was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Anna Ruth Castleberry.
Survivors include his wife and best friend of almost 64 years, Wanda Dixon Castleberry; daughters and sons-in-law, Vicky and Ross Barnes of Sheridan and Tina and Chris McMillen of Maumelle; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Fred Ward of Sherwood; grandchildren, Trenton (Addison) Barnes, Aidan (Cheyenne) McMillen, Clayton Barnes (Hannah), Zoe McMillen, Mia McMillen; great grandchildren, Ren Taylor, Magnolia Barnes, Cason Barnes, Reid Barnes.
He is also survived by other extended family member, his Calvary Missionary Baptist Church Family and many friends.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at New Hope Cemetery near Sheridan, with Bro. Terry Williams officiating. Visitation is Tuesday, 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers: Ross Barnes, Chris McMillen, Trenton Barnes, Clayton Barnes, John Strickland, Johnny Stone

Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in our unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. As a family, we hold fast to the promise of eternal life, knowing that through Christ, we will be reunited with Eddie again. While we mourn his loss, we trust in the hope of resurrection and the peace that comes from knowing he is now in the presence of our Lord. His legacy of faith and love will continue to guide us, and we find solace in the assurance that we will one day see him again.
