Obituary

Lewis Edward Mercer age 73 of Casa, Arkansas died Monday, August 13, 2007 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born May 29, 1934 at Birta, Arkansas to the late Perry M. Mercer and Annie E. Tanner Mercer. He was preceded in death by his wife Rebecca S. Brixey Mercer, two brothers and one sister.

He is survived by two sisters; Alice E. Cooper of Fort Smith and Bettie Gongola of Ola; 3 children and their spouses, Carol and Bobby Cotton of Sheridan, Karen and Roger House of Sheridan and Russell and Lori Mercer of Bryant; four grandchildren, Joni and Alisha House and Caleb and Jacob Mercer.

He was a retired environmental technician from International Paper Company in Pine Bluff and later retired from cattle farming at his home in Casa. He dearly loved his family and many friends and neighbors. He loved bluegrass music, especially bluegrass gospel.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, August 16, 2007 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. Al Michael and Bro. Daryl Barnes officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery. Visitation: 5-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. The family will be at the home of Bobby and Carol Cotton, 400 Grant 167084, Sheridan.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Hickory Grove Freewill Baptist Church, Hwy 155, Casa, Arkansas or Junet Pentecostal Church of Sheridan.

Pallbearers are Bob Cody, Kenny Brixey, Ernest Cook, Billy Ward, Ewell Cody, Hub Cody.
Honorary pallbearer will be Murl Hubbard.
