Obituary

Edward L. Rodgers of Sheridan, Arkansas was born August 10, 1940 in Kelso, Arkansas, the son of the late Earnest Edward and Cora Lee Ault Rodgers. He was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church, a United States Navy Veteran, was a retired truck driver, having last worked for Safeway, and was a Teamster. His greatest joy was joking and laughing while spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.

Mr. Rodgers died Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock at the age of 71, surrounded by his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Arneeta Mae Rodgers.

Survivors include his wife, Alyne Rodgers of Sheridan; sons, Ernest Rodgers and wife Carla of Sheridan and Scott Rodgers of Bryant; daughter, Laura Love of Sheridan; sisters, Phyllis Gordan (Jim) of Sheridan, Linda Files of McGhee, Jo Martin of McGhee and Loretta Hall (Mac); grandchildren, Brittney Harp of Hot Springs, Rebecca Wyles (Andrew) of Sheridan; Beth Mullins (Rusty) of Sheridan, Michael Rodgers ( Raven) of New York, Amanda Green of East End, Emily Davidson (Shane) of Sheridan, Shelby Schweitzer (William) of Sheridan, Megan Rodgers of Bryant, Kendra Ford of Sheridan, and Lakara Holmes of Redfield; great grandkids, Bryson Wyles, Adilyn Wyles, Brayden Donaldson, and Zoey Schweitzer; nieces, Melissa Jones (Wesley), Angela Ragsdale (Brandon), Carolyn Hughes (Gerald), Donna Files, Tammy Hargis (Brian), Beverly Burgess, Karen Weeks (Blake); nephews, Roger Hall and Billy Martin; brother -in-law, Lowell Sanner; sister-in-law, Dolly; Aunts and uncles, Bill Ault of Tyler, Texas; Russell Ault of Redfield. Eve (George) Pickery of Redfield, and June of Lake Charles.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, July 23, 2012 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. Micah McKinley officiating. Burial will be at New Hope Cemetery near Sheridan. Visitation: 2:00-5:00 P.M. Sunday. Memorials may be made to Meadowview Baptist Church, 9914 Hwy. 270 East, Sheridan, Arkansas 72150.
