Elaine Carter of Sheridan, Arkansas was born July 15, 1956 at Little Rock, the daughter of the late Dr. Faber Carter and Geraldine "Gerry" Sims Carter.  She was a 1974 graduate of Sheridan High School, and a member of First Landmark Baptist Church in Sheridan.  Elaine was a free-spirted person who was friends with anyone willing to be her friend.  She was loyal and generous, and even in her own difficult times, she had a way of making sure her family and friends were her focus.  She had a unique gift for poetry and writing and used this as an outlet to express herself.  If you were around Elaine, you could be certain you were going to see her big smile, hear her signature laugh, and experience her "larger than life" personality.  Music was a huge part of her life, and she enjoyed many different styles and genre's. She found great peace and joy just being on the water with fishing pole in her hand.  As much as she loved people, there's a really good chance she loved her dog's (and her family's dogs) as much, or maybe even a little more. Elaine brightened the lives of those who knew and loved her, and she leaves behind a rich and full legacy.

Mrs. Carter died peacefully Monday, July 18, 2022 at her home, at the age of 66.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Carter.

Survivors include her daughter, who also served as her dedicated caregiver, Andrea Packer; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Jim Wright; niece and her husband, Jeri and Josh Sutter; all of Sheridan.   She is also survived by her fur babies, Bear, Rascal, and Carter, as well as many, many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 22, 2022 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. Michael Walton officiating.  There will be no visitation, and due to the extreme heat, the service will conclude at the chapel and there will be no committal service at Lost Creek Cemetery.
