Rison

Eleanor Earl Clemons Butler, age 84, of Rison, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, at The Greenhouse Cottages of Southern Hills in Rison. Eleanor was born on August 24, 1941, in Thornton, Arkansas, at her family home, a place affectionately known as “Lil Bay.” She was the daughter of Earl Burris Clemons and Mary Jane Harper Clemons. After graduating high school, Eleanor began working as a teenager at a local drive-in café. As a young adult, she moved to Little Rock and worked for Timex, where she met the love of her life, Muriel Butler. Together they built a loving family and shared many happy years.
Eleanor devoted much of her career to serving children and families through her work with the Sheridan School District and the Pulaski County School District. She worked as a bus driver, paraprofessional, and aide for students with special needs. One of her greatest joys was driving the school bus for her granddaughter, Ashley. Following her retirement from the Pulaski County School District, Eleanor continued caring for others by serving as a caregiver for her granddaughter. She enjoyed singing with her husband, cross-stitching, crocheting, keeping a beautiful home, preparing meals for her loved ones, and participating in Christian women’s fellowship activities. Faith was the cornerstone of Eleanor’s life. From childhood, she was active in church and attended services with her family. Throughout the years, she worshipped at East End Assembly of God and Landmark Church of God. She cherished her relationship with the Lord and enjoyed studying the Bible with her husband. Eleanor was known for her loving heart, strong faith, and devotion to her family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and the love of her life, Muriel Butler; her son, Darren Butler; her daughter, Janet Shenep; her brother, Marion Clemons; and her sister, Francis Green.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Alexander (Brooke); her brother, Burris Clemons; her sisters, Ellene McGrew and Patsy Hogg; her grandchildren, Patrick Butler, Spencer Butler, Ashley Alexander, Austin Alexander, Amber Jones, Hannah Baggett, Shelby Pierce, and Bradley Shenep; and her great-grandchildren, Cooper, Creed, Wyatt, Noah, Ellie, Emma, Delaynie, Draco, Trevia, Amelia, Nate, Cassie, and Esme.
