Obituary

Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Bibb, 79, of Leola, Arkansas, entered into the glorious presence of her Lord and Savior on December 1, 2024.  She was born on October 5, 1945 in Wilmington, Delaware, to Lyndon and Katherine Lamb.  Lyndon was quick to point out her name was Betty.  However, because she was born in a hospital in Delaware, her parents were advised to give her the formal name of Elizabeth, since Betty was considered an abbreviated form of Elizabeth.  Lyndon relented a little then replied, "I really don't care what you put on that certificate, her name is Betty".

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Bibb, her father, Lyndon Lamb, her mother Katherine Lamb, and an infant brother. She is survived by her brother Lyndon "Lynn" R. Lamb II (Corkey) of Corinth, Mississippi, her two sons Jonathan (Kathy) Bibb of Sheridan, Arkansas and Steven (Teri) Bibb of Hensley, Arkansas, four grandchildren Crystal (Billy) Bethea, Kayelyn (Alex) Brazil, Brady (Lauren) Bibb, and Bailee Bibb and five great-grandchildren Presley Bethea, Trusston Bethea, Daxton Brazil, Della Brazil, Brooklynn Bibb, and Linley Bibb and a host of nieces, nephews, church family and friends.

Betty loved her family.  She was very proud of "her boys" and let everyone know they were born 11 months apart in the same year. However, she drew immense joy from her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  If able she would spend every waking moment making each of them feel special and showing how much she loved them.

Betty dedicated her life to serving others.  She was a skilled elementary educator that spent many years as a classroom teacher at Leola and Sheridan School districts and eventually moved into administration serving as an elementary principal at Sheridan.  She had an incredible passion for teaching and helping children reach their potential.  Also, because of her love for the teachers, she was always a strong advocate for them, and they were considered to be extensions of her family.

Betty was a long-time member of Leola Missionary Baptist Church and later a member of Winan Avenue Missionary Baptist Church in Hot Springs.  She was a gifted musician and used her talents to praise and worship the Lord.  She worked tirelessly on countless choirs, bible schools, AWANA, and any opportunity to tell others about how great our God is through music.  Betty loved to play the piano, and during most of her family gatherings would play for anyone who wanted to sing with her.  Her parents would often recount how she began singing at a very early age and the whole neighborhood would know it because she sang loud to the Lord.  It is comforting to know her voice is again unfettered and praising the Lord.

Funeral service will be Friday, December 6, 2024 at 2:00 P. M. at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Deere officiating. Visitation is Thursday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. also at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Leola Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Terry Lawson, Trent Bogy, Billy Bethea, Trusston Bethea, Brady Bibb and Alex Brazil.
