Elsie Vergie Ashcraft Berry of Sheridan, Arkansas was born April 16, 1910, in Fenter, Arkansas the daughter of the late John Thomas and Ida Charlotte Reynolds Ashcraft. She was a charter member of First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan. She taught piano and voice lessons for many years having worked with the children's choirs at church. She loved her church, family and music. At the age of 94, she could still sing and play songs by memory.
Mrs. Berry died Sunday, December 26, 2004 at the Sheridan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 94.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George R. Berry, Sr., Brothers, Robert Dewey Ashcraft, John Lee Ashcraft, Thomas Theo Ashcraft, and Otis Cole Ashcraft, and a sister, Gladys Ashcraft Crim.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday, December 31, 2004 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. Bill Berry, Bro. William Ashcraft, and Bro. Paul Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Philadelphia Cemetery at Prattsville. Visitation: Thursday 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Pallbearers; Tony Gatlin, Dale Wilkinson, Thurman Drake, Joe Wise, Franklin Pumphrey, L.C.
