Evelyn Taylor

Evelyn Taylor was born in Grapevine, Arkansas September 15, 1940, the daughter of the late Ernest A. and Bertice Ross Taylor. She graduated from Grapevine high school and was married to Harold Taylor for 65 years before his passing in February 2025. She was a good seamstress and home maker. She worked several jobs through the years but was employed by Walmart for the last seventeen years of her working career until she reached retirement age. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, gardening, sewing, quilting, needle point. She was a dedicated and faithful member of New life Fellowship Church in Sheridan. She loved her God, her church, and reading her Bible. 

Evelyn passed peacefully on Sunday May 31, 2026, at Sheridan Healthcare and Rehab at the age of 85.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Harold Taylor, son Gregory Taylor, sisters Ruby Davis, Thelma Plunkett, Kathleen Funderburg, and her brother Owen Taylor. She is survived by her daughter and son in law Twylia and Raydean Shoptaw. 

Funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday June 3, 2026, at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan with Bro. Steve Cypert and Bro. Tom Cypert officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday June 2, 2026, also at the funeral home. Interment service will be held at Hedden Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers are Randy Plunkett, Ross Plunkett, Brent Taylor, Brian Davis, Matt Cotton, Brandon Cotton, Adam Smith, and Justin Moody.
