Frank Roberts of Prattsville, Arkansas was born February 18, 1919 in Grant County, Arkansas, the son of the late William Benjamin and Alice Edna Reynolds Roberts. He was a member of Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church in Prattsville, where he served his Lord faithfully. He loved to read and study his Bible and share the gospel with others. Minutes before his death, he recited the 23rd Psalm with his niece, Benna K. Williams. He was a very unselfish man who had a kind-heart.
He served in the United States Army, having fought in World War II. He was wounded and sent back to war, and then wounded again. He received many awards while in the service, some including, Purple Heart, Oakleaf Cluster, American Campaign Gunner Medal, WW II Victory Medal, European Campaign, and the Bronze Star.
Mr. Frank whose nickname was "Snoopy" was a lifetime member of PST Hunting Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was an expert marksman even without the use of one hand.
Mr. Frank died Thursday, January 14, 2016 at his home at the age of 96.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Pauline Hicks Roberts; brothers, Lee Roberts, George Calvin Roberts; sisters, Millie Roberts Stuckey and Shirley Roberts Bean. He was a devoted and loving care-giver for his parents and wife for many years.
Survivors: step-sons, Ray Hammond and Wayne Hammond; step daughter, Sheila Chism; brothers, Bennie Ray and wife Dorothy Roberts of Prattsville and numerous nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church in Prattsville with Bro. Don Goodman and Bro. Jace Roberts officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00 until service time. Burial will be at Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville with military honors.
Pallbearers are Lester Webb, Tim Edwards, Ben Roberts, Eli McNeely, Michael Miller, Jody Bailey and Dion Williams. Honorary pallbearers are Tola Williams, Raymond Mooney and Dr. Curtis Clark.
