Obituary

Fred Lee Veazey was born August 14, 1938 in Sheridan, Arkansas to the late Butler "Son" Veazey and Bula Croy Veazey. He departed this life June 1, 2025, at his earthly home surrounded by his family, as the angels carried him to his eternal home.

He was predeceased in death by his parents, a son-n-law Roger Krupicki, brothers-n-law, Clifton Baugh, Faril, Herman, and Dual Simpson.

Fred was a tool & die maker and a machinist and owned and operated Grant County Tool & Die Co for over 45 years. His kids and grandkids all earned a rite of passage working summers, after school and weekends at  "the shop". He retired from tool & die work in 2006, but not being a man of leisure, he quickly went to work for the Sheridan Schools, followed by $ General, Walmart and lastly, Sheridan Parks and Recreation.

He served 14 years with the Arkansas National Guard and was activated for federal duty during the Central High Crisis in Little Rock, Ark, and was a member of the American Legion Post 30.

Fred was baptized as a young man at Jenkins Ferry and became a member of Ephesus MBC later joining Lost Creek Missionary Baptist Church where he served as head usher for several years.

He loved squirrel hunting and fishing. One of his greatest joys was teaching his grandkids how to do both. He baited many hooks, over many years at the family pond. He was an awesome Pawpaw to his grandchildren, great grandchildren and his great, great grandchildren. He never met a stranger, always had a smile, a handshake or a hug to give.

He leaves behind the love of his life, Leta Simpson Veazey whom he married September 20, 1957; Son, Steven C. Veazey (Leanna), Daughters, Sherrie Hawkins (Kevin) and Shawnda Krupicki (fiancé Todd), and a sister Helen Baugh.
