Obituary

Friley D. Yancey of Sheridan, Arkansas was born on August 6, 1940 in Little Rock, and died on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock at the age of 68 years. He was the son of the late Blanche Marie Garrison and Emmett Charles Yancey, and was raised by the late Fred Simpson. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Edward Yancey.

He was a retired truck driver for Arkansas Best Freight; was a retired Teamsters Union member, and attended Meadowview Baptist Church at Sheridan.

Survivors are his wife, Sherry Yancey of the home;
Son, John Edward Simmons III and wife Stephanie of Stuttgart;
3 daughters: Brenda Kay Ward of Star City;
Stacia L. and Rachel Yancey of Jacksonville;
Jamie L. Simmons of Stuttgart;
3 brothers: Truman Yancey of Fayetteville;
Wayne Yancey of Irvin, Texas;
Freddy and wife Ann Simpson of Turrell;
3 sisters: Lola Seamrer of Bryant;
Estelle Yancey of San Diego, Calif;
Suzanne and husband Mike Mixon of East End;

Graveside funeral service will be Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at 2:00 PM at
Bayou Meto Cemetery near Gillette, Arkansas, with Micah McKinley officiating. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6:30 until 8:30 PM at the funeral home.
Pallbearers: Charles Neal, Mike Neal, Gary Neal, John Edward Simmons, Earl Stratton, Terry Yancey, Charles Parker, Curtis Yancey.
Honorary Pallbearers: Pug Stratton, and Tommy Parker
