Garland Stanley Anderton of Sheridan, Arkansas was born August 15, 1942 in Sheridan, the son of the late Louis Stanley "Bill" and Josie Whiteaker Anderton. He was a member of Lost Creek Missionary Baptist Church and was a retired supervisor for Union Pacific Railroad having been employed for 39 years. He had also served in the Air National Guard and enjoyed playing golf, gardening, hunting and watching his grandchildren participate in sports.
Garland passed away Friday, September 23, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 69.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Anderton.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Fletcher Anderton of Sheridan; Son, Kirk and wife Kristi Anderton of Hensley; Daughter, Kristi and husband Byron Hicks of East End; Brothers, Harold and wife Margie Anderton of Malvern; Dwight Anderton of Hot Springs; Delbert Anderton of Sheridan; Sister, Alice Webb of Bartlett, Tennessee; 4 grandchildren, Max and Maggie Hicks, Ethan and Eli Anderton and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service will be 3:00 P.M. Monday, September 26, 2011 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Paul Roberts and Bro. Al Michael officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Lex Riggan, Brett Riggan, Matthew Webb, Ricky Anderton, Jon Paul Anderton, Kenny Ross and Homer Charles Fletcher.
