Gary Ronald Harper of Sheridan, Arkansas was born April 17, 1947 in Sheridan, Arkansas, the son of the late Chester Coy and Leona Christine Brooks Harper. He had served in the US Army and had retired from the Pine Bluff Police Department. He also had previously worked at the Sheridan Police Department. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hunting and fishing.

Mr. Harper died Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff at the age of 69.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Frances LaRue "Rudy" Howard and a brother Donnie Harper.

Survivors: wife Vickey Johnson Harper of Sheridan; sons, Shane Harper of Texas and Robert Harper of Sheridan; daughter, Krystal Morgan of Star City; step-mother, Wilma Ashcraft of Monticello; brothers, Vernon Harper of Bend, OR, David Harper of Sheridan, Jerrell Harper of Sheridan, Chester Harper of Dothan AL, Jim Baker of Crossett, Danny Reid of Sardis, Tim Reid of Redfield; sisters, Patsy Varner of Houston, TX, Brenda Newton of Monticello, Betty Perez of Austin, TX, Karen Mooney of Sardis; 7 step-children, 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A family service will be held at a later date.
