Gene Dreher

Charles Eugene “Gene” Dreher of Hensley, Arkansas was born December 10, 1941 in Little Rock, the son of the late Charles Isiah Dreher and Della Lucille Shadle.

Gene passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026 at his home at the age of 84.

He was a member of Orion Missionary Baptist Church in Redfield and had served in the US Army Reserve as well as Arkansas State Horse Show Association as President for 3 years as well as Mid State Horse Show Association; Grant County Constable for 8 years and the Grant County Sheriff’s Office Auxiliary for 8 years. He was also a construction worker and a Superintendent for Baldwin and Shell Construction Company having retired after 30 plus years of service.

His hobbies include tinkering with and restoring his antique tractors, horse shows, golfing, fishing, 4 wheeler riding, and going to the beach with his family as well as working in the hayfield when he could.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ratcliffe Dreher and a sister, Laura Belle Brown;

Survivors: daughters, Eugenia Dreher Bates of Centerton, Marcy (Kip) Ply of Hensley; grandchildren, Grayson Bates and Kolton Ply and a host of extended family members and friends.

Funeral service will be Thursday, April 16, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Easley officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 until service time.

Burial will follow at Bethel North Cemetery in the Ico Community.

Pallbearers are Paul Vernon Harrington, RJ Spann, Roy Hale, Kip Ply, Grayson Bates and Kolton Ply. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Harrington, Freddie Tankersley and Sid Dumond.

In lieu of flowers, members may be made to Orion Missionary Baptist Church.
