Obituary

Geraldine "Gerry" Sims Carter of Sheridan, Arkansas was born November 5, 1921 in Damascus, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Marvin M. and Verda Stracener Sims. She was a member of First Landmark Baptist Church in Sheridan, former treasurer of the Grant County Museum, a member of The Committee of 100, and member of the Paintbrush Gang. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ and traveling the world. She was also an avid bridge player.

Ms. Carter died Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Sheridan Healthcare and Rehab at the age of 95.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Faber Carter, a daughter, Charlotte Carter and her beloved dog, Truman.

Survivors: daughters, Carolyn and husband Jim Wright, and Elaine Carter; granddaughters, Jeri and husband Josh Sutter and Andrea Packer all of Sheridan and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Bro. Michael Walton officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00 until service time. The service will dismiss at the chapel. Burial will be at Lost Creek Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Grant County Museum, 521 Shackleford Road, Sheridan, AR 72150.
