Obituary

Glenda Louise Cotton Lafferty, 78, of Sheridan, changed her address to her Heavenly Home, August 15, 2025. She was born January 25, 1947, in Pine Bluff to Dewey Edward and Easter Candy Williams Cotton.

Glenda was a quiet lady known for loving people and showing care and devotion to her family and those she held dear in her life. These characteristics led her to obtain her diploma as a Licensed Practical Nurse from Pines Vocational Technical School in 1980. This career choice guided her to different realms of employment including being an in-home dialysis caregiver for Earl Von Wimberly and fulfilling a position with what was then the Grant County Nursing Home.

Her life was no doubt an example of a Christian Walk. Slow to anger and quick to lend a helping hand, Glenda's love for the Lord was shown by her gentle spirit, faithful attendance in Hope Pentecostal Church, and her love of listening to the old hymns. Bible reading was a regular activity for her, and scripture was hidden in her heart to often be emphasized and shared with others.

In 1971, she welcomed her cherished son, Chris, and the two became one another's constant support system through their lives. Glenda offered an unwavering foundation while Chris completed law school and took the position of Chairman of the Grant County Republican Party, as well as being his biggest fan in any accomplishment throughout his life. In turn, he reciprocated that unbreakable bond by appointing her as his clerical specialist in his law practice and trusted her every move. Lovingly referred to as "My Chris," it was more than obvious that his unexpected death in 2004 left a huge hole in Glenda's heart that was irreparable.

At the age of 32 while completing nursing school, Glenda worked at Chicken Country, which is now Wright's Ranch House, and a customer named Arnold Lafferty walked in. The rest of the story was history, as they married soon after meeting and were married for 41 years until his death in 2021.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dude and Easter Cotton, her husband, Arnold Lafferty, and her son, Chris Nichols.

Glenda is survived by her brothers, Harold Cotton and wife, Shonda, of Grapevine, and Carroll Cotton and wife, Shae, of Grapevine; one niece, three nephews, and many other extended family members and friends. She will be missed, but her memory will be cherished, and her legacy will continue through those who loved and cared for her.

Graveside Service will be Monday, August 18, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Lost Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM.
