Obituary

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Gloria (Mama G), our loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend to all whose lives she touched, on March 31 , 2023 in Little Rock, AR. She just recently celebrated her 68th birthday with her family.

She was the beloved mother of Kevin Herman and Maegan (Jimmy) Davis, proud grandmother of Hayden, Ryan, Jacob, Cynthia, Tyler, Colby, Colin and Ava Claire; ister of Alan (Janette) Goolsby; remembered by her nieces, nephews, sister-in-law and cousins.

Predeceased by her parents Macon and Opal Goolsby, husband Richard Purifoy, & brother Gary Goolsby.

Gloria graduated from Sheridan High in 1973. She attended UCA. After she married my dad and had my brother and I, she stayed home and took care of us.  In Camden, she worked as a secretary for People Are Concerned (PAC).  She put on her boots & came home covered in ash and chemicals for International Paper Co. and National Technical Systems (NTS). She managed Carnes Park Pool and became a Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor. She was a licensed animal groomer and operated her business After-Glo for 17 years. She was a Camden Chamber of Commerce board member. She was also a SummerFest director. She was a go-getter, hard worker & always willing to help someone in need.  Mom loved going to the river, fishing, boating, four-wheeling, animals & hanging out with family and friends. She was Mama G to all of our friends and during our school years, she had an open door & a willingness to help teens in need.

Gloria was known for her sense of humor and love for life and people.  She was kind, generous and compassionate. She loved her family.  She worried about them, rooted for them, protected them, believed in them, taught them, forgave them and always kept on loving them. My mom was the strongest woman I've ever met.
A celebration of Gloria's life will be held at Memorial Gardens in Sheridan, AR on Friday, April 7 , 2023 at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers or gifts we instead ask for donations to be made to Alzheimer's Association or Kindred Hospice.
