Gutherine Winbury of East End, Arkansas, age 78, passed away Friday, November 24, 2017, at her home.
Gutherine was born January 11, 1939, in Rayville, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Garland and Nellie Adair. She spent the first three years of her life at the Shriners Hospital in Shreveport, being treated for a birth defect. Because of the Shriner's generosity she was able to walk normally. The family moved to East End in 1944.
She married Billy Bob Winbury on February 24, 1956 and lived with him the rest of her life. She worked for Timex in Little Rock for a few years, then worked for AT&T for more than 20 years. After retiring from AT&T she and her sister Ida Nell Hunter opened Past Time Ceramics in East End, and they thoroughly enjoyed designing and creating ceramic products of various kinds.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant brothers George Earl Adair and Glen Adair; by her sisters Betty Jo Green and Ida Nell Hunter, and another brother, Billy Ray Adair.
Survivors include her husband; her daughter Debbie Sue Wood of Springdale, AR, her son, Eddie Winbury of East End, and a sister, Lawonna Saughter of East End; five grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday, 10 a.m., at East End Baptist Church. Funeral will follow at 11 a.m. with Bro. Doug Hibbard officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery in East End.
Pallbearers are Christopher Senteney, Tim Winbury, Marvin Slaughter, James Bate, David Hutchinson and Doug Head.
