Harvey C. Nelson was born in Sheridan, Arkansas on January 3, 1935, to Jesse and Priscilla Nelson. He took his heavenly tractor ride home on April 7, 2018 at the age of 83, with his family at his side. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Josh, Bud, Beecher, Floyd, Franklin, Max, and an infant brother, and also an infant sister.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Geraldine Small Nelson. Daughters, Lynne Patterson of Richardson, Texas, and Sharon Markham of Mabelvale, Arkansas; son, David and wife Frances Nelson of Sheridan, Arkansas; brother, Bobby Nelson of Benton, Arkansas; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and the sister he never had, Lottie Taylor, all of whom he loved dearly.
Harvey spent twenty years in the United States Air Force, retiring in 1973. He also retired from Sheridan Schools where he was in charge of the bus shop. He spent many hours working on his farm, baling hay and caring for his cows. He enjoyed cooking brisket for, and attending Arkansas Cattlemen functions. He served for a time on the Grant County Fair Board, and was on the board for Farm Bureau Insurance. He was also a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
Visitation will be at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, from 12:00-1:30 P.M. Funeral services will also be held Tuesday, at 2:00 P.M. Interment will be at Lost Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Scott Rodgers, JJ Harrington, Ross Harrington, Michael Bullock, Jayson Woods, Alex Jeffers, and Ray Shelton. Honorary Pallbearers: Bobby Wells, Ernest Rodgers, Roy Harrington and Skeeter Flory.
