Helen Childers Kauffman of Sheridan, Arkansas was born September 16, 1913 in Cleveland County, the daughter of the late George Samuel and Annie Carl McGriff Childers. She was the oldest, living member of First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Chicot Trace Chapter. "Granny" loved her family and was an avid cook and seamstress. She passed away on Monday, January 31, 2011 at the age of 97.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son; Harold (Woody) Kauffman, brothers, Vernie, Calvin and Virgil Childers, sister Montez Allen, and sons-in-law, Ralph Hollinger and Joe Howard Williams. She is survived by daughters Sue Hollinger, Rachel Williams and Kalinda Mooney (Randy) all of Sheridan. Five grandchildren: Kim Crosby (Clifton), Doug Hollinger (Kim), Vandra Parish (Parker), Leah Wallingsford (Lance) all of Sheridan and Carla Marsh (Casey) of Malvern. Ten great grandchildren: Logan, McKenzie, and Madison Crosby, Ashley, Caleb and Jacob Hollinger, Erika Parish, Laney and Lawson Wallingsford and Cole Marsh. She is also survived by a special cousin, Lena Hooker of The Woodlands, Texas.
Funeral services will be Thursday, February 3, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan. Bro. Shawn Hill will officiate. Burial to follow at Lost Creek Cemetery. Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers: Clifton Crosby, Doug Hollinger, Parker Parish, Lance Wallingsford, Casey Marsh, Al Mangrum, Robert Earl Mooney and Randy Mooney. The family extends their appreciation to Crown Point Assisted Living in Sheridan for the care and devotion given to their mother and Granny.
