Henry "Red" Groomes of Leola, Arkansas was born January 18, 1927 near Sheridan the son of the late Delbert Groomes and Minnie Perser Groomes. Mr. Groomes went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 30, 2005 at Hot Spring County Medical Center in Malvern at the age of 78.

Mr. Groomes was retired from White Sands Missile Range. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and he loved the outdoors.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Modenia Glover, and brothers; Lawrence, Lloyd, Doyle and Jerry Groomes.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marjorie Caldwell Groomes of the home;
Sons and daughter in laws; Gerald and Jan Groomes of Leola
Randy and Nan Groomes of Leola.
Grandsons, Barry and wife Lindsey, Reece and wife Lindsey, all of Leola; Lee Groomes of Hot Springs, Travis Groomes stationed at Nellis AFB, Nevada, Michael Groomes of California; Granddaughter, Monica Groomes of Malvern; Step grandsons, Brett Wilson of Leola and Erik Wilson stationed in Japan and special nephew Drue Davis.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, October 2, 2005 at Leola Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Johnie Brewster and Bro. Shelton Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Leola Cemetery. Visitation: Saturday 6-8 PM at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Sheridan. The family will be at the home of Randy and Nan Groomes, 12567 Hwy 229 South in Leola. Memorials may be made to Leola Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund or Leola Cemetery.
