Hershel Muriel Butler of Sheridan, Arkansas was born May 16, 1937, in Morrilton, Arkansas the son of the late Johnlee Hershel and Hester Agnes Faulkner Butler. At a young age Muriel had to quit school to help support his family after his father’s sawmill accident. Learning to work and provide early would prove to help him in later years with his jobs working for U.S. Times, Georgia Pacific, and being a very talented master carpenter for many years. Muriel also proudly served in the U.S. Army National Guard between 1960 to 1966 working in the Automotive Maintenance Repair MOS as the rank of E5/SP5. In his civilian life Muriel loved to hunt, fish and even feed his population of pet racoons in his yard. Muriel was a family man, he loved spending time with his many grandkids, and great grandkids who he was so proud of, his legacy of love lives on through them. Above all he was a devout Christian and bible scholar who loved and trusted his Lord with all his heart and spread the word of his savior to all he could.
Muriel passed away peacefully at the Green House Cottages in Rison, AR, at the age of 88
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Darren Butler, daughter Janet Shenap, brothers David and Ronnie Butler and sister Laverne Syrja.

Special thanks to Kim Rowe, Lloyd & Brenda Alexander for their love & support for Dad throughout the last year and days of his life. And to the nurses & staff @ the Greenhouse Cottages of Southern Hills for loving my parents like their own family. Extra special thanks to his grandson Austin and son-in-law Brooke taking care of them and for the upkeep of their home both before and after moving them into the nursing home.
