Homer Hanes Phillips of Leola, Arkansas was born September 20, 1921 , the son of the late James and Katie Strong Phillips. He attended Leola United Methodist Church, was a United States Army Veteran having served in World War II, and was retired from International Paper Company.
Mr. Phillips died Saturday, January 30, 2010 at the V.A. Medical Center in Little Rock at the age of 88. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Travis and Jimmy Phillips; Sister, Natalie McCrackin; and 2 grandchildren, Megan and Heath Dorey.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Bonnie Butler Phillips of Leola; Daughters, Mayetta Holland and husband Dan of Leola, Corkey Lamb and husband Lynn of Corinth, Mississippi, and Lisa Dorey and husband Robin of Leola; Brothers, John Phillips of Leola, Billy Phillips of Breckinridge, Texas, Clark Phillips and wife Nita of Leola; Sister, Gladys Batchelor and husband Gene of Poyen; Sister-in-law, Ruthie Phillips of Sheridan; Grandchildren, Shanna Lamb and husband Casey, Dana Harrington and husband JJ, Rita Corder and husband Fred, Tiffany Miles and husband William, Lyndsey Marlar and husband Rich, Katie and Robyn Elizabeth Dorey; Great grandchildren, Daniel and Savannah Lamb, Destiny, Hannah, and Sarah Harrington, Taylor, Alex, Summer, and Coleman Corder, Adia and Grace Miles, and Isaac and Nella Kate Marlar.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan. Burial will follow in Leola Cemetery. Visitation: 6:00-8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
