Obituary

Jackie Evatt, 52 of Hensley, Arkansas, passed away on March 8, 2024.  She was born on September 1, 1971, in Fort Smith, Arkansas to the late Benny and Ann Brown.

Jackie had a big heart for people and loved to encourage and care for them.   She was an exceptionally good cook and was always eager to provide a meal when someone was in need.

She was active in her church.  She was a member of the East Union Choir, and she cooked for the church's food pantry, serving hundreds of meals to church members and members of her community.

She had an immense love for her Brown and Evatt family.   She never missed her son Tyler's extracurricular activities when he was a child, whether it was a practice or an actual game. She passed on her love for cooking to him as well. They spoke often about recipes, and he called her regularly while buying groceries. She was so proud that he became a Youth Minister at South Union Missionary Baptist Church.

She spoiled her husband.  He could not attempt to make his own sandwich without her running him out of the kitchen so she could make it for him.  She always asked if he needed assistance with any task he was attempting to complete.  For instance, if he was changing the blades on his lawn mower, she would lean her head out the door and say, "Do you any need help?".   Jackie had a knack for never losing anything.  "Everything is somewhere."   Jackie would lose her debit card and ask Brian for his.   Brian would oblige but say "Please don't lose my card."   In reply she would say "Mine isn't lost.  It's somewhere.".

On another occasion, she lost Brian's spare set of truck keys.  She attempted to shift blame to Brian saying, "You could have lost them."   He pointed out that his keys were always on his desk.  Later while she was raking leaves, she proudly came into the house and announced that she had located the spare keys.   Brian asked where she found them.  She replied that they were in the burn pile.  So technically she was correct.  They were somewhere.

She was a loving friend and family member who encouraged everyone, and always had time to listen.

Most importantly, Jackie is going to be a Gamma to Ruthy Ray Evatt in July.   She was never more excited about anything in her life.  Jackie is survived by her husband, Brian; a puppy dog, Waylon Jennings; her son and daughter-in-law, Tyler and Kaida; a grandog, Bucket; and a large family that she loved dearly. What is worth repeating, and cannot be stressed enough,  is that she will be Gamma to Ruthy Ray Evatt in July.  The reason it's worth repeating is because she never stopped repeating it.

A celebration of Jackie's life will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at East Union Baptist Church. Visitation is from 12:00 P.M. until service time at 1:00 P.M.
