James B. Atchley of Sheridan, Arkansas was born December 3, 1937 in Coy, Arkansas the son of the late Henry Amos and Ethyl Core McClung Atchley. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Sheridan, the Pine Bluff Masonic Lodge #69, and had retired from the U.S. Navy. He loved to hunt, fish, and work, especially in the woods. He also loved to spend time in his earlier years coaching softball and flag football.
Mr. Atchley died at the VA Hospital in Little Rock on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at the age of 73.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Dan J. Atchley, Marie Strom, Maxine Skorcz, Imogene Fabrey, Ruby Grooms, Betty Lou Clark, and Henrietta Nelson.
Survivors: Wife, Errolyn Liddle Atchley of Sheridan;
Son, Russell and wife Penny Atchley of Sheridan;
Daughters, Vicky and husband Tony Cure of Sheridan; Carolyn Holloway of Sheridan; Sandra and husband Scott Kitchens of Roland; Donita and husband Jeff of Sheridan;
Brothers, Billy Atchley and Albert Atchley both of Sheridan;
Grandchildren, Antonio Cure, Jr., Tia Prichett, Hope Cure, Cody Dobbins, Misty Jackson, Shelby Dobbins, Roe Kitchens, Wilson Kitchens, Chasity Holloway, Grace Holloway, and Trish McClendon. 9 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Gary Copeland officiating. Burial will follow at Center Grove Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
