James Carlos Gordon of Sheridan, Arkansas was born May 4, 1944 in Forrest City, Arkansas, the son of the late Lloyd and Dorothy Christine Jones Gordon. He was a member of Little Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan. He had served in the United States Army for 21 years, having fought in the Vietnam War. He had worked at the Pine Bluff Arsenal for 22 years and was a member of the American Legion and the DAV, where he had served as Commander for many years.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mr. Gordon died Thursday, February 13, 2020 at St. Vincent Medical Center in Little Rock at the age of 75.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Lynette Martin and Carol Hammet and his brother, Ashel Gordon.
Survivors: wife of 50 years, Phyllis Rodgers Gordon of Sheridan; daughters, Jamie Gordon of Arkadelphia, Melissa (Wesley) Jones of Sheridan, Angela (Brandon) Ragsdell of Okean; grandchildren, Erica (Timothy) James, James Brewer, Jesse Jones, Eric (Danielle) Ragsdell, Hunter (Brianne) Ragsdell, Peyton (Braden) Navarre, Braydon Todd, Courtney (Andrew) Spillman, and Nicholas Ragsdell; great grandchildren, Marissa James, Conner James., Tristan Ragsdell, Kaitlyn Ragsdell, Aiden Castleberry, Remington Navarre and Gabrielle Ragsdell and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, February 17, 2020 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be prior to the service from 9:00 until service time. Graveside service with military honors will be at 2:00 P.M. at Kelso Cemetery near McGhee.
Pallbearers are James Martin, David Martin, Lloyd Hammet, Larry Seligh, and Gordon Hammet.
