Obituary

James Hartness of Prattsville passed away at Baptist Health Medical Center in Malvern on 10/7/21 at the age of 72.

James went to Vietnam right out of high school where he served with the United States marine corps as a platoon leader. When James came home, he worked as a commercial fisherman until he eventually chose a career in law enforcement. James was a wildlife officer with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission for over 30 years, during which time he brought home numerous critters for his daughter to play with. Once he retired in 2006, he spent the majority of his time in the woods or on the water which is where he loved to be.

James is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kathy; his daughter Katie and his grandson Corbin. Special thanks goes to the cowboy corner for putting up with him all these years, also to the Prattsville Fire Dept, Sheridan Fire Dept, Sheridan EMS and special friend Joe Rhea of Prattsville.

Special thanks to nephews Vic, Garrett and Glenn Hartness for showing him all those crappie hot spots.

There will be no visitation.

A Graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 11, 2021 at Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville.

Pallbearers are Daniel Carter, Hugh Pruitt, Vic Hartness, Garrett Hartness, Glenn Hartness, and Chris Beckwith.
