James Alvis Lisenbey, Sr. of Sheridan, Arkansas, was born November 12, 1941 at Patmos, Arkansas, the son of the late Alvis and Frances Lewis Lisenbey. He was a member of Junet Pentecostal Church, and retired as a supervisor from Hood Packaging in Pine Bluff, after 44 years of service. James was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
He was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He would do anything for his family. He never wanted to miss any ballgame or event that any of his grandkids participated in.
Mr. Lisenbey died Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Arkansas Hospice in Little Rock at the age of 77. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Marie Lisenbey.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Glenda Davis Lisenbey ; sons, James A. Lisenbey, Jr. and wife Jessica, Jeff Lisenbey, all of Sheridan; daughter, Melissa K. Word and husband Les, of Eldorado; brother, Harlin Lisenbey of Sheridan; grandchildren, Lauren Brooks, Rebecca Wallace, Jamie Lisenbey, Olivia Mciver, Reese Lisenbey, Christian Word; great grandchildren, Drake Espinoza, Demi Carey, Hayden Wallace, Elyssa Wallace, Cohen Mciver; longtime best friend, David Goss. He is also survived by a host of other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at Junet Pentecostal Church (8014 Hwy. 270 East, Sheridan), with Bro. Stacy Lisenbey and Bro. Daniel Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Philadelphia Cemetery at Prattsville. Visitation is Tuesday, 6:00-8:00 P.M., also at Junet Pentecostal Church.
