James Carter Summerlin, Sr. died at the Sheridan Heathcare and Rehabilitation Center in Sheridan, Arkansas, following an extended illness. He was born on March 26, 1932 in New Bern, North Carolina, the oldest child of James Lawton and Ruby Carter Summerlin. He moved to Pearson, Georgia when he as very young and lived there and in nearby Homerville most of his life. Surviving Mr. Summerlin are his three children, Lynn Summerlin Harrison and husband John, of Sheridan, Arkansas; James Carter Summerlin, Jr. of Pearson; and Kerry "Paul" Corbitt Summerlin of Little Rock; four grandchildren, Jo Margaret Bennett and husband Jason of Memphis, Tennessee, Trey Biddy of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Laura Biddy and Suzanne Biddy of Little Rock, one great-grandchild, Catherine Lynn "Cate" Bennett of Memphis; his brother Robert (and Jeannie) Summerlin and sister, Latona Summerlin of Pearson. There was a private memorial service on Sunday, Feb. 18 in Maumelle, Arkansas.
