Janice Allene Howard Reynolds was born in Abernathy, Texas, on April 4, 1949.

Her family moved to Arkansas when she was very young.

She was one of eight children born to George and Dulcey Howard.

Much of her youth was spent in the Harmony Grove community, where she graduated from high school. In school, she was a popular cheerleader and cultivated many friendships.

Jan passed away on August 7, 2026 at Arbor Oaks Health and Rehab at the age of 77.

She is survived by her husband and best friend, Danny Reynolds of Prattsville; daughter, Joannie (Tim) Lawrence of Fort Smith; and grandsons, Connor McClure, Kendal McClure and Whitley Parks.

In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Raper Parks; brothers, J.W. Howard, Alvin Howard and Ronnie Howard; and sisters, Joy Hayes, Rita Heinze, Mary Young and Pat Rickford.

The joy of Jan’s life was her family. She lovingly raised her two daughters, spending untold hours at the ballpark to cheer them on in their softball games and supporting them in all they did. Later, she was the doting “Nana” to her three grandsons, who were the apple of her eye.

Her work life included various roles, all of which focused on serving others. From nursing to counseling, she was dedicated to those she served.

Jan had a gift for making others feel comfortable. She could always bring out the shy person in the group with her warmth and way of making them feel at ease, even in a crowd. If you knew Jan, you knew you had a friend.

She loved her Sweet Home church family and enjoyed being with them whenever she could. She loved the KFC kids and enjoyed serving them. When the church undertook a major building project a few years ago, she was an integral part of the décor and design committee. It was important to Jan to get things right.

Always an animal lover, Jan lovingly tended and cared for the many dogs that were lucky enough to find a home with them.

Her flair for the creative was demonstrated in many ways, from the beautiful flowers in her garden to the cross-stitch art that graces the homes of many of her family and friends. Decorating her beautiful home at Christmas time was a joy. She would spend weeks getting everything just so. Friends and family, especially the children, looked forward to seeing the elaborate display of her collection of miniature houses every year at Christmas.

Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church, Prattsville. Visitation is prior to the service beginning at 10:00 A.M.
