J.B. Lites of Grapevine, Arkansas was born June 2, 1925 at Grapevine, the son of the late Clara Plunkett and Roy James Lites. He was a member of Ain Missionary Baptist Church for 70 years where he spent 25 years as Sunday School Superintendent. He was a Mason and belonged to Taylor Lodge at Grapevine. J.B. was formerly in the United States Army, during which time he served in the Phillipines. He was also retired from the Southern Pacific/Cotton Belt Railroad, was a past board member with Grant County Farm Bureau, past board member of F.S.A., was a former member of Grant County Cattleman's Association and had a special interest in growing and maintaining his timber. Second only to his relationship with Jesus Christ, was his great love for his family, all of whom were his pride and joy.
Mr. Lites died Friday, June 6, 2008 at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Little Rock at the age of 83. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Noel and Othel Lites.
Survivors include his wife and best friend, Virginia Reynolds Lites of Grapevine. They were married 61 years ago on January 21, 1947. Son and daughter-in-law, Ben and Mary Jo Lites of Sulphur Springs; Daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Gary Don Hix of Sheridan; Sister, Jeroline Lites Blackerby of Grapevine; Granddaughters, Jodie and husband Mike Young of Conway, Dee Ann and husband Ben Huffman of Conway, Lacey and husband Mitch Logan of Grapevine; Great grandchildren, Will Young, Kate Young, Olivia Huffman, Emily Huffman; numerous other family members and a large number of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 9, 2008 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. David Hiblong, Bro. William Ashcraft, Bro. O.J. Ramick, Bro. Nathan Winiecki and Bro. Michael Walton participating in the service. Entombment will follow at Ain Cemetery, near Grapevine, with Masonic rites. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00-5:00 P.M.. Pallbearers are Ben Huffman, Mike Young, Mitch Logan, Sherman Lites, Carlton Lites and Vance Blackerby.
