Jean Marie Pointer Mathews of Little Rock, Arkansas was born April 14, 1932 at Indianaplois, Indiana, the daughter of the late George and Opal Okie Pointer. She was a member of Barnett Memorial Baptist Church, and was retired from the Arkansas Gazette, Creative Art Department. Jean enjoyed painting, sewing, crocheting and playing her keyboard.
Mrs. Mathews died Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock at the age of 77. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, David Donham and a brother, Jack Pointer.
Survivors include her husband, Albert Mathews of Little Rock; Sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Linda Donham and Brian and Stacey Donham; Daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Monroe Wilkerson; Daughter-in-law, Teresa Donham Gilliam; Brother, Paul Pointer; Sister, Gwen Brewington; Grandchildren, Everette Wilkerson, Staci Wilkerson, April Flora, Natasha Howard, Sam Donham, Alex Donham, Michael Donham, Stormy Donham, Will Donham; Great Grandchildren, Miranda Wilkerson, Haley Wilkerson, Christian Wilkerson, Austin Robinson, Gracie Wilkerson, Hayden Wilkerson, Jordan Flora, Levi Flora, Ariana Flora.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. Paul Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery in East End. Visitation: 6:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Chuck Mathews, Greg Miller, Jessie Flora, Rickey Howard, Mickey Gilliam and Ken Atkins.
