Jerry Wayne Rhodes of Bryant, Arkansas was born December 5, 1945 in Benton, Arkansas, the son of the late Myron Woodrow and Alma Louallen Rhodes. He was an active member and servant at First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan where he had taught the young boys Sunday School Class for 11 years, served as AWANA leader for 16 years and for many years was head usher. He gave pocket knives to each boy that was in his Sunday School and AWANA classes for many years as well as some adults. He served in the United States Air Force for over 25 years, having fought two tours in Vietnam.
He was a member of the American Legion #1000 and he enjoyed gardening, landscaping, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.
Jerry died Friday, November 27, 2015, at his home, surrounded by his family at the age of 69.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Hubert Rhodes and David Rhodes and father-in-law and mother-in-law, J.E. and Betty Kilburn.
Survivors: wife and best friend for over 39 years, Shirley Kilburn Rhodes of Bryant; son, Michael and wife Jennifer Rhodes of Hot Springs; daughter, Jenny Rhodes of Bryant; brother, Jesse Rhodes of Sheridan and a precious grandson, Evan Rhodes as well as a host of nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan with Bro. Tim Montgomery and Bro. Shawn Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Lost Creek Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M.
