Obituary

Jessie Mae Tobias Gee of the Bookman Community, near Grapevine, was born May 10, 1924 at Grapevine, the daughter of the late Tom and Eva Coogler Tobias. She was a member of Mt. Zion Church, had previously worked at the Pine Bluff Arsenal, was a cook at Essie's restaurant, was a midwife, a housekeeper, and took care of a countless number of children. She was a part of a very large family. In fact, she was a twin and there was another set of twins, all within the family of 12 children. Ms. Jessie had a kind, loving heart, and she will be missed by many.

Mrs. Gee died Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Sheridan Healthcare and Rehabilitation at the age of 89. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her husband, Levi Gee; daughter, Mildred Bryson; step-son, Jack McClentin Gee; brothers, Elbert, Sylvera "Slim", William, Monroe, Luther, Johnny; sisters, Jeffie (who was Ms. Jessie's twin), Ellen, Mabell, Fronnie, and Berdie.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Carolyn Gee; grandchildren, Bruce and wife Daphne White, Shirley Gober, Banita Austin, Jack Gee, Kelvin Gee, all of Gary, Indiana, Darrell Bryson of Pine Bluff;
18 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; extended family, Theresa and Denny Buchanan and their family from Grapevine; a host of other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, December 2, 2013 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. Al Michael officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery in the Bookman Community. Visitation is Sunday, 4:00-6:00 P.M. at the funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with her funeral expenses.
