Obituary

Jimmie D. Head, 70, of the East End Community (Saline County) went to his Heavenly Home on March 12, 2009 after a courageous battle with sarcoma.

Jimmie was the son of the late Jim Bob and Maudria Isabel Freeman Head, a graduate of Huttig High School in Huttig, Arkansas and held a BA from Arkansas A&M College (now U of A-Monticello). He was retired from Arkansas Highway & Transportation Department with 35 years of service and from EMTEC.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lou Ann Hicks Head of East End, one son, Douglas and wife Tammy of East End, one daughter, Dana Thompson and husband Kevin of Fayetteville. Four grandsons, Daniel Thompson and Andrew Thompson of Fayetteville, and Jacob Head and Caleb Head of East End.

Jimmie was known for his devotion to God, his family, his church and his community. He was a member of East End Baptist Church for 48 years where he taught Sunday School, served as a deacon and volunteered in all areas of church work. He served as Chairman of the East End Volunteer Fire Commission for 26 years. He was a member of Lakeside Country Club where he served a term as President and one term as Vice President. He also was a member of Iron Spring Lodge #342, Benton Gun Club, and Johnson's Hunting Club.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, March 15, 2009 at East End Baptist Church with Bro. Ron Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday evening, March 14, 2009 from 5pm until 7pm at the funeral home.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of East End Baptist Church, the members of the Wisdom Sunday School Class, and the East End Volunteer Fire Department.
Active pallbearers will be Wes Mitchell, Doyle Oden, Charlie McCormick, Ronnie Luttman, Rex DeClue and James Sinclair.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the East End Baptist Church Building Fund, 4701 East End Road, Hensley, Arkansas 72065, East End Volunteer Fire Department, 21701 Arch Street, Little Rock, Arkansas 72206 or the Salem Cemetery Association, c/o Richard Wilkerson, 3413 Lorance Drive, Little Rock, Arkansas 72206.
