J. W. "Jimmie" Koon of Sheridan, Arkansas was born June 1, 1927 in Sheridan, Arkansas the son of the late William Pierce and Opha Mae Walker Koon. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Sheridan, was a retired fire chief for the Sheridan Fire Dept. for over 30 years, and had also retired from the Pine Bluff Arsenal. He was a past member of Sheridan Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow, and the owner of Koon's Jewelry.
Mr. Koon died Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff at the age of 87.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife Adrie Holiman Koon, son-in-law, Gary Wise, brothers, Carl Koon, Floyd Koon, Faye Koon and Oscar Koon, and a sister, Ruby Lee Trantham.
Survivors: son, Steven Koon; daughter, Mary Koon Wise; grandchildren, Chad and Carrie Smith, all of Sheridan; Michael and Ashley Wise, of Hensley; great grandchildren, Colton and Carly Smith and Koen Wise and a host of friends and loyal customers.
A Memorial service will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 12:00 until service time.
