Jimmy Ray Brown of Grapevine was born January 12, 1937 in Rison, Arkansas the son of the late Milton Thomas and Ruby Cash Brown. He was an active member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff, where he served his Lord faithfully. He loved to sing and worship. He spent a great deal of his time at Sheridan Healthcare and Rehab playing dominoes and visiting with the residents. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.
Mr. Jim went to be with his heavenly Father on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at his home at the age of 78.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Williams Brown who died September 14, 2014, a son, Jerry D. Brown and a granddaughter, Beth Worthen, sister, Dorothy Winston, brothers, J.T. Brown, Bobby Brown, Harold Brown and Dewey Brown.
Survivors, sons, Jimmy E. and wife Monica Brown of Sheridan; Thomas E. and wife Jeanie Brown of Woodlawn; daughter, Karen Lawson of Sheridan; brother, Truman Brown of Houston, Texas; 5 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jackie Richardson and his son, Bro. Jimmy Earl Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Lost Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:00 A.M. until service time.
Pallbearers are Jerry Brown, Lonny Quarles, Tim Nelson, Trey Songer, David Brown, and Shawn Daughdrill. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Quarles, Kyle Bryant and Alex Cheak.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Missionary Baptist Church or Sheridan Healthcare and Rehab Center.
