Jimmy Joe Loyd of Sheridan, Arkansas was born July 22, 1941 in Otto, Arkansas the son of Violet Daisy Roberts Loyd and the late William Vaugan Loyd. He was retired as Road Foreman for the Grant County Road Department , where he worked for 17 years. Jimmy was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and fish, and was president of S&J Hunting Club. He enjoyed old cars and was loved and admired by countless numbers people, due to his kindness and "never met a stranger" personality.
Jimmy died Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at his home in Sheridan, at the age of 73. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Vaughan Junior "Bud" Loyd.
Survivors include his wife and best friend for 53 years, Marilyn Yarbrough Loyd of Sheridan; mother, Violet Roberts Loyd of Sheridan; sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Bobbie Loyd of Sheridan, Rocky and Brenda Loyd of Prattsville, Scotty and Jill Loyd of Sheridan; daughter, Jamie Loyd of Alexander; brother, Jerry Loyd of North Little Rock; sisters and brothers-in-law, Helles and Eddie Harwell of North Little Rock, Brenda and Buddy Haley of Ward; mother-in-law, Minnie Forbis of Snellville, Georgia; sister-in-law, Joyce Francella of Snellville, Georgia; brother-in-law, James Maxwell Yarbrough of Grayson, Georgia; grandchildren, Alana McElroy Lankford (Jake), Cody Loyd (Jamie), Alexander McElroy, Ryan Loyd, Brianna Loyd, Noah Loyd, Seth Loyd; 3 great grandchildren, Isabella, Ava, and Zeke Lankford.
Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, December 29, 2014 at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. Odell Lindsay and Bro. Steve Cypert officiating. The burial service will be at 1:00 P.M. at Harmony Cemetery, near Mayflower, Arkansas. Visitation is Sunday, 4:00-6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
