Joe Gurvis Brewer of Sheridan, Arkansas was born April 30, 1944 in the family home in Sheridan, the son of the late Girvin B. and Lois Lybrand Brewer. He was a member of Little Creek Missionary Baptist Church, American Legion, and B & G Hunting Club. He was retired from Entergy as a transportation manager.

Joe joined the United States Air Force. He was a proud veteran and served his country doing 2 tours in Vietnam.

Joe died Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Sheridan Healthcare and Rehab at  the age of 78.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Lois Vernall Bradbury, Geraldine May, Mavine Gray; brothers, HG "Pete" Brewer, William E. "Crook" Brewer and James E. "Bud" Brewer.

Survivors: wife of 32 years Kathleen Whitaker Brewer; son, Eddie (Dorothy) DeMoss; daughter Patty (Scott) Knox all of Sheridan; sister Chlorine "Priss" Haralson of Judsonia; 3 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and friends and his precious pet Amos.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with Bro. Brent Williams and Bro. Michael Walton officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 until service time.

Pallbearers will be Edgar Gray, Max Polk, Everett Watson, Clayton Watson, Milton Brewer, Thomas Gray, Ronald Webb, Donald Webb, Billy Webb and Charles May.
