Joe G. Hoyt of Sheridan, Arkansas was born February 11, 1929 in Adona, Arkansas, the son of the late Joseph Robert and Helen Nagel Hoyt. He was a member of First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan and had formerly been a Deacon at Shiloh Baptist Church in Alexander, Arkansas.
Mr. Hoyt died Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Saline Hospice House in Bryant at the age of 82.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cletys Ashcraft Hoyt who died April 9, 2010, a sister, Carol Winder and a brother, Jimmy Hoyt.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Marilyn Hoyt of Sheridan; Daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and John Howard of Jerusalem, Arkansas; Brothers, Edd Hoyt of Cabot, Ray Hoyt of Sherwood and Ronnie Hoyt of Stuttgart; Sisters, Betty Jo Gottsponer of North Little Rock, Mary Hill of Hot Springs and Vicky Hoyt of Morrilton;
Grandchildren, Chandra Helms, Tammy Shumate, Alyshia Holt, John Matthew Howard, Mark Koller, Brian Watson, Christal Hoyt and Kevin Hoyt; 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 25, 2011 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with his family members, Aaron Holt, Mark Koller and John Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Jones-Palestine Cemetery near Sheridan. Visitation will also
be Friday from 1:00 P.M. until service time.
Pallbearers are Larry Hoyt, Kevin Hoyt, Jody Helms, Bryan Shumate, Brian Watson and Aaron Holt.
