John Benjamin Williams, 89 of Prattsville, Arkansas was born January 6th, 1926 in Prattsville to John Oliver and Matilda (Reynolds) Williams. He departed this world for his heavenly home on Sunday, January 18th, 2015. Johnny graduated early and was drafted into the United States Navy in 1944 and served as a Gunners Mate 2nd class. He is a World War II Veteran and was involved in the liberation of the Philippines. When he was stationed in Astoria, Oregon he met the love of his life Elaine Mohrmann. They were married on May 5th, 1946. That union produced five children, which in turn provided him with 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Paul Williams, James Williams, sisters: Mavis Williams and Inez Stuckey, brother in law; Louis Waldron, sisters in law: Dorothy Williams and Nancy Williams, sons: Richard Williams, Steven Williams, daughter; Sharon Marie Williams and an infant son.
Left to cherish his memory: his loving wife Elaine, son Larry and daughter-in-law Janet Williams, daughter-in-law Debbie Williams, all of Prattsville. Grandchildren: Dion (LaDonna) Williams of Prattsville, Wade (Gina) Williams of Prattsville, Stacey Burnett of Hot Springs, Kelly (David) Wright of Prattsville and Clay (Crystal) Williams also from Prattsville. Great-Grandchildren: Elaina (Cam) Williams-Rodhouse, Nick Helms, Jennifer Howell, Jessica (Eric) Moser, Stephanie Lackey, Phillip Bailey, Cole Williams, Payne Harper, Hillary Williams, Amber (Colby) Petty, and Cooper Williams. Great-great-grandchildren: Bronx, Ryker and Maverick Helms, Noah and Joel Howell and Bentley Moser and Hudson Petty; sister; Anna Jean Waldron of Bryant; brother; Thomas Williams of Hope, Arkansas. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Johnny was a lifelong member of Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church in Prattsville. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, thirty years of retirement and spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Goodman and Bro. Neal Pumphrey officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 .M. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers: Dion Williams, Wade Williams, Clay Williams, David Wright, Kenneth Stuckey and Paul Williams. Honorary pallbearers: Randy Williams, Perry Williams, David Williams, Miles Waldron, Cam Rodhouse, Nick Helms, Eric Moser, Phillip Bailey, Payne Harper, Cooper Williams and all the members of the Sweet Home Men's Sunday School Class.
