John Lee Benning of Prattsville, Arkansas was born March 31, 1949 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, the son of the late Robert Lee and Betty Jean Crawford Benning. He was a member of Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church in Prattsville. He had served in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic and had worked for the railroad. He was a self-employed horse trainer, and enjoyed raising and riding horses. He also like to crappie fish and do woodworking.

John Lee died Monday, June 6, 2016 at the VA Hospital in Little Rock at the age of 67.

Survivors: sons, Quinton Spurlock of Bono, Rodney and wife Renee Benning of Prattsville; daughter, Dena and husband Mark Jennings of Warren; brother, Frank Benning of Prattsville; sister Meredith Benning of Sheridan; 5 grandchildren, Lacey Brown, Cammie Spurlock, Lacey Jennings, Jhonna Benning and Claudia Benning; 2 great grandchildren, Arra and August Buckner and a host of extended family members and friends.

Graveside service will be 2:30 P.M. Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Philadelphia cemetery in Prattsville with Bro. Jerry Wallace officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
