Obituary

John Carl Horton of Sheridan, Arkansas was born July 3, 1927 in Grapevine, Arkansas, the son of the late James Chester and Rellie Maude Strain Horton. He was an ordained Deacon and was a very faithful and active member of First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church of Sheridan and the Friendship Sunday School Class. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, had worked at Otasco and Sheridan Lumber and Supply. He enjoyed woodworking and fixing things.

Mr. Horton died Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at his home at the age of 85.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Chet Horton, a brother, Verlon Horton and sisters, Mabel Walker, Ruth Williams, and Mary Cotton, 3 nephews and a niece.

Daughters, Carla and husband Larry Anderson of Ramah, Colorado; Ellen and husband Steve Walters of Sheridan;
Brothers, Wallace and wife Betty Jo Horton of Sheridan;
Harold and wife Pat of Guam;
Brother-in-law, J. W. Cotton of Sheridan;
Grandchildren, Brian and Anna Horton, John and Jessie Horton, Sean Horton, Marc Horton, Joshua and Stormi Walters,
Great grandchildren, Faith Hensley, Aidan Horton and Eddie Horton, Madison, James and Emma Horton and Abel Walters and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Saturday, September 1, 2012 at First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan with Bro. Shawn Hill and Bro. Scott Culpepper officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to First Landmark Building Fund, 402 West Center, Sheridan, AR 72150.
