John William Mitchell of Sheridan, Arkansas was born January 14, 1958 in Pine Bluff, the son of the late Charlie Mitchell, Jr. and Frances Riggs Mitchell. He was a 1976 of Sheridan High School, attended University of Arkansas for 2 years and was a member of First Baptist Church where he had recently been baptized. He had worked for Union Pacific Railroad for 41 years, was a member of Grant County Conservation, Board member of Grant County Farm Bureau, and Past President of Grant County Cattlemens Association. He enjoyed camping, traveling, and being a cattle rancher, and spending quality time with his precious grandsons.

John died July 6, 2023 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock at the age of 65.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors: wife, best friend and caregiver of 42 years, Sharon Thompson Mitchell of Sheridan; daughters, Bethany Woodruff (Dylan) of Salisaw, OK, Kaitlin Hutter (Steven) of Benton, Lindsey Jones (Wheeler) of Texarkana, AR; brothers, Mike Mitchell (Jackie) of Bismarck, Danny Mitchell of Hot Springs; sisters, Frances Jo Taylor (Jerry) of Tonitown, Susan Hicks (Eddie) of Sheridan; 4 grandsons, Naughton Cady, William Hutter, Korben Hutter, Judson Jones and a host of extended family members and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. with visitation at 9:00 A.M.at First Baptist Church in Sheridan with Bro. Michael Daugherty officiating.

Honorary pallbearers are Terry Basco, Eddy Mitchell, Glen Strong, Robin Carter, Mickey Ashcraft, members of Sam McD onald Sunday School Class and Sheridan Class of 1976.
