John Chester Watson, 92, of Sheridan, Arkansas died Saturday, September 5, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Rachel O'Mary Watson; daughter, Sharon (Ronnie ) Barker of Bryant; son, Johnny Watson of East End; grandchildren, Adam (Taylor) Barker of Prosper, TX, Jared (Joni) Barker of Bryant; Andy (Christina) Barker of St Charles, MO and Wendy (Hall) Ramsey of Maumelle. He also cherished his twelve great grandchildren.
He was born June 30, 1928 to Chester and Bessie Rives Watson in Bienville Parish, LA. He was the youngest of nine children.
He is preceded in death by his parents and all his siblings.
He loved his hobbies, including his membership in Waddle Home Deer Camp for over 50 years, his coaching of Teeny League, Little League, Babe Ruth and American Legion baseball as well as hunting and fishing.
He was an active member of First Landmark Missionary Baptist Church where he enjoyed singing in the church choir while he was able.
He was a hard worker, never missing work, until he retired from Gaylord Paper Mill in Pine Bluff.
Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Shawn Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00 until service time.
Pallbearers are Adam Barker, Jared Barker, Russell Waddle, Eddie Paul Woodall, Wes Kerr and Bruce Tipton. Honorary pallbearers are Randy Mooney. Jim Mayfield, Gary Don Easley, Eddy Easley and Joe Lynn Waddle.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Landmark Baptist Church, 402 West Center, Sheridan, Arkansas 72150.
