Obituary

Johnnie West Martin of Prattsville, Arkansas was born March 10, 1939 in Star City, Arkansas, the son of the late John E. and Annie Louise Hamilton Martin. He was an active member of Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church in Prattsville where he faithfully served as Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent for over 22 years, and Sunday School teacher. He had served in the US Air Force, was a member of PST Hunting Club and had retired from the US Postal Service. He had been a brick mason and contractor for many years as well.

Johnnie was a devoted and loving husband, dad, brother, grandpa and friend to all who knew him. He will be dearly missed.

Johnnie died Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton at the age of 77.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Cedell Seymore and Wrenetta Barstow.

Survivors are his best friend and wife of 52 years, Patsy Hollinger Martin of Prattsville; son, John Daniel Martin of Sheridan; brother, Charles A. Martin and wife Marion of North Little Rock; 4 grandchildren, Fallon A. Martin, Johnathan Lex Martin, Noah D. Gray and T'ea Star Henson and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church family.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. June 29, 2016 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Goodman and Bro. Danny Seal officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are his fellow Deacons; Ronald Holiman, David Bean, Randy Buie, Barry Hollinger, Harold Holiman and Gary Shoptaw. Honorary pallbearers are the Men's Sunday School Class of Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, 281 Grant 48, Prattsville, Arkansas 72129.
