Joseph Peter Betz of Sheridan, Arkansas was born March 6, 1941 in Newark, New Jersey, the son of the late Bernard and Cecelia Rowans Betz. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Sheridan, and had served in the United States Navy serving in Vietnam. He enjoyed fishing, cooking and baking cheesecake.

Mr. Betz died Monday, September 21, 2020 at Sheridan Healthcare and Rehab Center at the age of 79.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors: wife of 32 years, Nancy Roundtree Betz of Sheridan; sons, Joseph Robert (Amy) Betz of Fayetteville, David (Amy) Betz of Mena; daughter Kathy (Blake) Patterson of Hot Springs; step-son, David(Tammy) New of Sheridan; step-daughter, Nancy Wilson (Robert) Catchot of Sheridan; brother, Bernard Betz of Phoenix, Arizona; sisters, Delores Patterson of Midlothian, Virginia, Susan Monahan of Brick, New Jersey; 5 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren and one on the way, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
