Joshua Steven-Lee Kekoaokalani (Hawaiian for brave one of the heavens) Crouse was born on October 7, 2003 and died on January 30, 2010 at the very young age of 6. Joshua died as a result of the injuries he sustained from Shaken Baby Syndrome due to being horribly abused at the age of 3 months old.
Joshua was a very special little boy who loved Christmas music, especially the Polar Express Sound Track. He was an advocate and a spokesperson against Child Abuse. Joshie went to the high school and spoke to the high school students about child abuse. Joshie had a smile on his little face all the time. He never complained even when I know his little body must have ached. Joshie's little eyes could not see but he allowed us to see the beauty in him and realize that GOD has a plan for all. Little Joshie gave us the gift of himself and he touched the hearts of many people.
Joshua is survived by his parents William and Kellie Crouse of Poyen, his sisters Keighla and Valarie of Poyen, Kelsey of Boston, Krystyna Parrault and her husband Jeremy of Norfolk,Virginia, Summer of Norfolk,Virginia, Amanda Williams and her husband Jonathon of Tennessee, Lamanda Longamore and her husband Jesse of Batesville, Gretchen of Kapolei, Hawaii, brothers Tyler, Michael, and Anthony all of Poyen. Joshie also leaves behind many special friends at First Step in Malvern, his care givers at school Sherry Turbeville, Malette Mathews, and Amy Parrault at Sheridan Elementary School, and his friends he made at Sheridan High School. Joshie is also survived by his very very special little dog Ellie who did not leave his side for the three days prior to his death.
Joshua was preceded in death by his uncle John Wesley Crouse.
Justice was never served against the person who abused him and his family promised him that we would pursue his abuser with a vengeance in Hawaii. Please join us in the Justice-For-Joshie campaign by wearing a blue ribbon which can be picked up at the visitation.
A Celebration of Joshua's life will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. Shawn Hill officiating. Visitation will also be on Saturday, from 12:00 P.M. until service time.
