Joyce Evelyn Justis Darnell of Monticello, Arkansas, formerly of Sheridan, was born March 3, 1939 at Hollenburg, Kansas, the daughter of the late Vernon and Ada Davis Justis. Before her health declined, she attended Second Baptist Church in Monticello, was retired custodian at Drew County Courthouse and enjoyed reading and watching westerns.

Mrs. Darnell died Friday, October 21, 2011 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff at the age of 72. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Darnell; siblings, Arlene Mason, George Justis, Jean Burlingame and Joann Karr.

Survivors include her sons, Allen Haralson of Searcy and Jeff Darnell of Star City; daughter, Debbie Haralson of Monticello; sister, Lavon Mason of Fairbury, Nebraska; grandchildren, Lindsey Hancock, Kacie Hancock, Holly Hancock, Paige Haralson, Alley Haralson, Lexie Haralson, Ty Haralson, Cheyenne Darnell, Tyler Barton; great grandchild, Lola Cunningham.

Graveside funeral services will be held, Monday, October 24, 2011 at Moore's Chapel Cemetery near Sheridan with Bro. Johnny Wall officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home prior to the service Monday, from 12:00-1:30 P.M.
