J. R. Jones of Sheridan, Arkansas was born September 24, 1928 in England, Arkansas the son of the late William R. And Mary Elizabeth Howard Jones. He was a member of Moore's Chapel United Methodist Church, was retired from Arkla Gas, served on the Sheridan Volunteer Fire Department, was a member and past master of the Sheridan Masonic Lodge #260 and was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran.

Mr. Jones died Monday, May 3, 2004 at the Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff at the age of 75.

Survivors are his wife Jean Darnell Jones of the home, son Jimmy and wife Mauri Jones of Hidgen, and a daughter, Patsy Nowlin of Hot Springs: 3 grandchildren

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, May 6, 2004 at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Rev. Terry Mann officiating. Burial will follow at Lost Creek Cemetery with Masonic Rites.
Visitation: 5-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Masons.
